Trades marketing agencies in the South East: who serves the area

The South East is where the commercial end of trades marketing lives. Two of the five agencies here help contractors win tenders and B2B contracts rather than domestic jobs, one is a construction social media specialist, and two serve sole traders. Knowing which camp you are in is the first filter.

A region split between domestic and commercial

Three of the five agencies are in the South East. The Build Agency is in Maidstone, Kent. FJ Digital is in St Albans, Hertfordshire. Market Maestro is listed in Epsom, Surrey, and works nationwide. Riley Marketing is based in the North East and covers the South East as part of its UK-wide service. Local Leads Accelerator does not state a base but publishes a Kent case study.

What distinguishes this list from other regional guides is intent. If you want more domestic enquiries from Google, two agencies apply. If you want to move from domestic to commercial work, two others apply. The fifth is about how you look on Instagram.

Treat the numbered order as a guide to breadth of relevance rather than a league table; a roofer and a mechanical contractor would rank these very differently.

1. The Build Agency (Orbit Lead Generation)

Best for: Trades moving into commercial contract work via outbound and tenders

The Build Agency is operated by Orbit Lead Generation from Maidstone in Kent. Its lead generation centres on cold email outreach to contracts and procurement managers with the aim of winning commercial tenders, backed by social media management and advertising, SEO, website design, a purpose-built CRM and photography.

It makes a 30-day guarantee to keep working for free until a genuine tender opportunity arrives. The one published case study covers a plumbing and mechanical services contractor and tracks sales, tender pipeline and pre-qualification questionnaires. Pricing is not published.

Verdict: If your goal is commercial contracts, the tender guarantee is a concrete commitment that few agencies make. If your goal is domestic jobs, this is not the agency for you.

2. Riley Marketing

Best for: South East sole traders and small firms wanting the whole domestic foundation on one fixed fee

Riley Marketing is a North East agency serving the South East along with the rest of the UK. For £149 a month at the time of writing it delivers a foundational growth system: an SEO-focused website with service and location pages, Google Business Profile optimisation, Google review automation including reactivating past customers, missed call text back, and a CRM with lead status tracking and branded quote pages on the trade's own domain.

The South East's many small towns make location pages particularly useful. A Kent plumber covering Maidstone, Tonbridge and Sevenoaks wants to appear for each, and the system is built around that from the outset. The build is completed before the client pays, with unlimited revisions, no setup fee and the freedom to cancel at any time.

Founder Tom Riley has ten years in search and lead generation, previously led organic growth at an insurtech and has built and run his own lead generation websites. Clients work with him directly. Published builds include Anglia Decor, an industrial painting and roofing contractor, and SET Building & Brickwork, an Essex building firm just over the regional border. Trades covered include electricians, plumbers, heating engineers, roofers, builders, window and door fitters, decorators, landscapers, plasterers and kitchen fitters, with Google Ads, Meta ads and local SEO as add-ons.

Verdict: For the domestic sole trader this is the most complete offer in the list and the lowest-risk to test. Its limits are equally clear: it is remote, and paid traffic costs extra.

3. FJ Digital

Best for: Builders who want organic social media and an Instagram presence rather than lead generation

FJ Digital is a St Albans social media specialist for construction and trades, founded in 2022 by Megan (surname not stated). It is an FMB Associate Member and a local award winner in St Albans. Services are social media management and content creation, profile refresh and optimisation, and hourly marketing consulting.

Electricians, plumbers, builders and roofers are mentioned as client types. Proof takes the form of client Instagram examples and a results page rather than formal case studies, and pricing is by monthly package, one-off service or hourly rate with no figures published.

Verdict: A sound choice for a Hertfordshire builder who wants a professional social presence maintained by someone who understands the trade. Pair it with a website and Google profile from elsewhere rather than expecting it to generate enquiries on its own.

4. Market Maestro

Best for: Contractors wanting to move from domestic to commercial work via LinkedIn

Market Maestro is listed in Epsom, Surrey, and works UK-wide. It runs LinkedIn-led B2B marketing for construction firms chasing contracts worth £50,000 or more, using a four-stage 'Hi-Vis Method' in which clients approve all content. Services are LinkedIn outreach and management, construction SEO, website building and lead generation.

Pricing is published: LinkedIn outreach from £850 a month and wider management from £1,100. The case study is a decorating contractor that tendered for and won commercial work. Sectors are contractors and construction specialists generally.

Verdict: The LinkedIn route to commercial work, with prices in the open. It sits alongside The Build Agency as the other commercial option here, and the choice between them is email outreach versus LinkedIn.

5. Local Leads Accelerator

Best for: Electricians and small trades wanting map pack visibility plus missed-call automation

Local Leads Accelerator publishes a Kent case study though it does not state a base. Its 12-week programme combines local SEO and map pack work, Google Local Services Ads, conversion-focused websites, missed-call text back and automated follow-up, and lead tracking and reporting, measured on cost per booked job.

Electricians are the primary trade, with joinery and carpentry, cleaning, waste removal and exterior services also served. Before-and-after ranking results are published for a cleaning business and a carpentry business. Pricing is not published.

Verdict: Worth a call for South East electricians who already have a website and want map pack and Local Services Ads work together. Ask what the fee is and what happens after week twelve.

Which to pick

Decide first whether you want domestic or commercial work. For domestic enquiries, Riley Marketing covers the foundation on a fixed fee and Local Leads Accelerator adds map pack and Local Services Ads for electricians. For commercial contracts, The Build Agency works through email outreach to procurement managers and Market Maestro through LinkedIn, with Market Maestro the only one of the two publishing prices.

FJ Digital is the complement to any of them for a builder who wants Instagram and Facebook looked after. It will not replace a website or a Google profile.

If you are weighing a regional agency against a national one, the regional agencies versus national debate covers the trade-offs, and what to send an agency before a quote will make the first call more productive. The London guide and East of England guide cover the bordering regions, and the Market Maestro profile goes deeper on the LinkedIn option.

Frequently asked questions

Which South East agencies help trades win commercial contracts?

The Build Agency in Maidstone uses cold email outreach to contracts and procurement managers with a 30-day tender guarantee. Market Maestro in Epsom uses LinkedIn outreach, priced from £850 a month.

Is social media management enough on its own for a builder?

It builds credibility but rarely generates enquiries by itself. FJ Digital is best treated as an addition to a website and Google Business Profile, not a substitute.

What does a fixed-fee system cost for a Kent sole trader?

Riley Marketing charges £149 a month for a website, Google profile optimisation, review automation, missed-call text back and a CRM, with the system built before you pay.

Do I need a Kent or Surrey based agency?

Not for the work. Two of the five here serve the region remotely. A local base helps if you want face-to-face meetings or photography on site.
